Do you deliberately avoid anyone who knows God more than you do?
"Some of You deliberately avoid anyone who knows God more than you do, who's more zealous for God then you are....you've deliberately chosen your friends because they're right at your level or a little lower and there's nothing about them that will challenge you to go higher...be honest..do a little self-examination..why do i have the friends i have.....does their presence prod and draw me to greater conformity to Christ OR does it leave me more smug and more satisfied and self-deceived with where i am?" ~ Albert N. Martin

This Christian life is...
This Christian life is one of continually putting off the old man with all its traits and putting on the new man. But our ultimate desire is not to be not-sinful but to be truly godly. We are not to aim at being not-sinful but to aim at being marked by Christian character. We experience the greatest success in battling sin when our desire is not only to stop sinning but to have our lives marked by the opposite character trait. The thief needs to do more than stop stealing; he needs to learn to be generous. The porn-addicted young man needs to do more than stop looking at pornography; he needs to learn to love and honor younger women as sisters. The angry mom needs to do more than stop lashing out at her children; she needs to learn to display patience and kindness. In each case the aim is not to stop sinning, but to be a display of Christ-like character. ~ Tim Challies

I am never ashamed to avow myself a Calvinist; I do not hesitate to take the name of Baptist; but if I am asked what is my creed, I reply, "It is Jesus Christ."

Between a living God and dying people
I think the most awesome task in the world today is not to be the president of the United States or the king of an empire, but to be a man that stands between a living God and dying people. ~ Leonard Ravenhill

The scene on Calvary
"No scene in sacred history ever gladdens the soul like the scene on Calvary. Nowhere does the soul ever find such consolation as on that very spot where misery reigned, where woe triumphed, where agony reached its climax. There Grace has dug a fountain which always gushes with waters pure as crystal, each drop capable of alleviating the woes and the agonies of mankind!" ~Charles Spurgeon (Justification By Grace 126.153)

Don't lose sight of Christ
Don't lose sight of Christ as you seek for knowledge! Theology is the study of GOD, not the mastery of subjects or the race of intellectuals, and so THEOLOGY should never be detached from WORSHIP, and by worship i mean WORTH-SHIP: that we should grow all the more in our estimation of how great our God is and in seeing Him as more worthy our hearts should LONG for Him all the more!! So then we study, we wrestle with the text so that we might better KNOW Him and make Him KNOWN seeking above all things to be conformed to His image!! ~ Julius Mickel

We should set the Word of God always before us...
“We should set the Word of God always before us like a rule, and believe nothing but that which it teacheth, love nothing but that which it prescribeth, hate nothing but that which it forbiddeth, do nothing but that which it commandeth." ~ Henry Smith

"I do believe that we slander Christ when we think that we are to draw the people by something else but the preaching of Christ crucified. We know that the greatest crowd in London has been held together these thirty years by nothing but the preaching of Christ crucified. Where is our music? Where is our oratory? Where is anything of attractive architecture, or beauty of ritual? “A bare service,” they call it. Yes, but Christ makes up for all the deficiencies"
C.H. Spurgeon

How little we know of the compassion of Jesus!
Oh, to realize that souls, precious, never dying souls, are perishing all around us, going out into the blackness of darkness and despair, eternally lost, and yet to feel no anguish, shed no tears, know no travail! How little we know of the compassion of Jesus! – Oswald J. Smith

Your one business in life is to lead men to believe in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Every other thing should be made subservient to this one objective. – Charles Spurgeon

Some missionaries go to Africa
Some missionaries go to Africa – others travel to the Orient or to Europe. Every missionary goes somewhere. We all have a mission field, if only our own neighborhood or office building. Every corner of the world is a mission field. There are no boundaries in this world beyond which Christian witness is out of bounds. – R.C. Sproul

If I see aright, the cross of popular evangelicalism is not the cross of the New Testament.
If I see aright, the cross of popular evangelicalism is not the cross of the New Testament. It is, rather, a new bright ornament upon the bosom of self-assured and carnal Christianity whose hands are indeed the hands of Abel, but whose voice is the voice of Cain. The old cross slew men; the new cross entertains them. The old cross condemned; the new cross amuses. The old cross destroyed confidence in the flesh; the new cross encourages it. The old cross brought tears and blood; the new cross brings laughter.
